Their story
I came to America from Colombia as a baby and was raised by my single father, whose unwavering faith and resilience shaped the person I am today. Despite seasons of hardship—including times when we lived without electricity—he taught me that love for God, family, education, and a strong work ethic are non-negotiable. He made sure I always had books to read, and those moments sparked my love of learning and helped me thrive in school.
Spending time in foster care further reinforced the importance of family and education, values that became the foundation for how I raised my own four children and ultimately shaped my life's work.
Teaching had always been my dream, so as a mother of four, I earned my degree from Liberty University and became an elementary teacher. Early in my career, I recognized that many upper elementary students were struggling to read, and I realized I needed to deepen my own knowledge to better serve them. I pursued a master's degree in reading because I believed my students deserved a teacher equipped to change the trajectory of their lives.
Although my classroom instruction made a difference, I saw that many families still lacked the time, resources, and specialized support needed to help their children become confident readers. After much prayer, I stepped out in faith and founded Bloom Educational Support Services.
Today, Bloom exists to do more than provide tutoring. Our mission is to equip struggling readers with evidence-based instruction while empowering parents to understand and actively support their child's literacy journey. Every child deserves the opportunity to flourish, and it is my privilege to help families cultivate that growth—one reader at a time.
How it began
My business began after I had obtained my master degree and was already doing one-to-one tutoring for a few years. I saw that no matter how much homework help I was providing via tutoring, the root of many students' academic struggles was an inability to read well. I had experienced considerable success helping students how to read within my classroom, and truly loved sharing my knowledge with other educators and parents. In prayer over many months, the Lord tugged on my heart to begin Bloom Education.

What sets us apart is our genuine heart for children and families. We invest in ongoing professional development to ensure our instruction reflects the latest evidence-based literacy practices, and we maintain consistent communication with families because we believe parents are essential partners in their child's success. Through regular progress monitoring, we celebrate growth, identify next steps, and provide families with a clear roadmap for continued progress.
While we offer one-on-one tutoring, our small-group model is at the heart of what we do. These groups allow students to build literacy skills alongside peers who share similar challenges, creating a supportive community where they realize they are not alone. As confidence grows, friendships form, and reading becomes less intimidating and more empowering.
Most importantly, every child who walks through our doors is seen, known, and valued. I pray for each of my students, and my vision extends far beyond helping them pass a test or finish a school year. My goal is to equip them with the confidence, resilience, and literacy skills they need to navigate life with greater independence and opportunity. When a child learns to read with confidence, it opens doors that can impact every area of their future—and that's the difference we strive to make every day.
A challenge they have overcome
My biggest challenge is that as a newer business I handle every aspect of its operation. This is alongside holding a full time job as a teacher, a kids ministry volunteer, and a mom of four.
A proud moment
The achievement I am most proud of is watching as my four kids live out loving God with all of their hearts and minds. My kids are 23, 21, 11, and 16. I am most proud of my kids. After this, my proudest achievement includes watching my students, whether in the classroom or through my private business, win. When they accomplish things they did not believe they could such as reading an entire novel, passing state exams, or even just reading that one sentence they could not read just a month before.
Advice for aspiring entrepreneurs
Be okay with making mistakes. Get comfortable with discomfort because this means you are growing. Do not delay in apologizing when an apology is needed to your clients. Its okay to make mistake but learn from them.
What is next
What I am most excited about right now is meeting the kids that God would have me work with this year. I am excited to take the things I have been learning this summer about the science of reading, and applying them in my classroom and in my private business. I am excited to watch Bloom educational support services empower students and families in their journeys with literacy and ultimately, change lives.
